About
Berliner Wasserbetriebe is the largest water and wastewater utility in Germany, serving around 3.7 million people in the metropolitan area of Berlin. Their water infrastructure includes 9 waterworks, 6 WWTPs, 7,800 km of drinking water pipelines, and 10,900 km of sewers and pressure pipes. In 2018, they provided 225 million m3 of drinking water, and treated 252 million m3 of wastewater. Berliner Wasserbetriebe has 4,382 employees. On April 9, 2019 at the Global Water Summit in London, Jörg Simon, CEO of Berliner Wasserbetriebe, accepted the offer of membership into the Leading Utilities of the World network and received a 'Golden Tap' award, recognising the achievement of the highest level of utility service.
