Department of Energy (DOE) was established in 2018 by folding Abu Dhabi Water & Electricity Authority (Adwea) into the newly founded DOE. The aim is to ensure economic and environmental balance of DOE’s programmes and initiatives. On April 16, 2018 at the Global Water Summit 2018 in Paris, Mohammed Juma Rashid Bin Jarsh Al Falasi, Undersecretary of Abu Dhabi Emirate, accepted the offer for membership into the Leading Utilities of the World network and received a 'Golden Tap' award for utility performance, representing the achievement of the highest level of utility service.
