The Environmental Services of the Regional Municipality of York in Canada provides services to one of the fastest growing communities in North America, with an increase of nearly 20,000 people each year. Despite having no direct access to adequate surface water sources, they provide 1.1 million people with water and wastewater services, and have 350 km of water mains, 330 km wastewater pipes and asset value of over CA$6 billion. On November 29, 2017 at the American Water Summit 2017 in Austin, TX, Erin Mahoney, Commissioner of Environmental Services, The Regional Municipality of York, accepted the offer for the membership into the Leading Utilities of the World network and received a 'Golden Tap' award for utility performance, representing the achievement of the highest level of utility service.
