About

Monterey One Water is a regional wastewater and water recycling utility serving communities across California’s northern Monterey County and the Monterey Peninsula. The utility treats wastewater for approximately 250,000 residents and is internationally recognized for its pioneering role in water reuse. Through its award-winning Pure Water Monterey program, Monterey One Water produces advanced purified water that replenishes the local groundwater basin, securing a sustainable, drought-resilient water supply that provides 60% of the Peninsula's drinking water.

Committed to innovation and environmental stewardship, the utility also leads in resource recovery, renewable energy generation, and biosolids management, demonstrating how wastewater can be transformed into a valuable resource.

On 19th May 2026, at the Global Water Summit in Madrid, Monterey One Water was inaugurated into the Leading Utilities of the World network, where it was represented by Executive Director Paul Sciuto.
