About
The Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District (NEORSD) is a regional public utility serving approximately one million residents across 63 communities in northeast Ohio, including Cleveland. It manages wastewater and stormwater across a 363-square-mile service area, operating three major wastewater treatment plants that collectively treat around 200 million gallons per day.
NEORSD is recognised for its commitment to environmental protection and regional collaboration. Its flagship Project Clean Lake programme aims to reduce annual pollution entering Lake Erie by four billion gallons, while its Regional Stormwater Management Program tackles flooding, erosion and water quality challenges. The utility also embeds sustainability into its operations, focusing on resource efficiency, climate resilience and long-term infrastructure planning.
On 29th September 2026, at WEFTEC in New Orleans, NEORSD joined the Leading Utilities of the World network, represented by Marie Fechik-Kirk, Manager of Sustainability and Special Projects.
