About
Northumbrian Water and Essex & Suffolk Water supply water and wastewater services to around 5 million customers. They provide wastewater services in the north east, and water only service in the south east. Their water infrastructure includes 44 impounding reservoirs, 344 pumping stations, 338 water service reservoirs and 25,545 km (16,000 miles) of water mains; whilst their wastewater infrastructure includes 418 sewage treatment works, 765 sewage pumping stations and 29,724 km (18,000 miles) of sewers. They have 3,000 employees. On October 25, 2018 at the American Water Summit in Philadelphia, Claire Sharp, Customer Director of Northumbrian Water Group, accepted the offer of membership into the Leading Utilities of the World network and received a 'Golden Tap' award, recognising the achievement of the highest level of utility service.
