About
Sydney Water is a state-owned corporation which supplies water, wastewater and recycled water services, with a turnover of around $A3 billion and 2759 staff. Serving more than 5.1 million customers, Sydney Water supplies water to almost 2 million properties with $A17 billion of vital water assets. Sydney Water covers an area of 12,700 km², servicing the Blue Mountains, Sydney and Illawarra. Over a period of 12 months, they produce over 590 billion litres of water, with 80% of drinking water coming from the Warragamba Dam / Lake Burragorang. Sydney Water also removes over 463 billion litres of wastewater through 16 wastewater treatment plants and 686 wastewater pumping stations. 43 billion litres of recycled water is supplied every year through 14 water recycling plants. On February 11, 2021 at the first Leading Utilities of the World Online Inauguration, Managing Director Roch Cheroux, accepted the offer for membership into the Leading Utilities of the World network and received a 'Golden Tap' award for utility performance, representing the achievement of the highest level of utility service.
