About
TasWater is Australia's only statewide water and sewerage utility, providing essential drinking water and wastewater services to approximately 500,000 Tasmanians and local businesses across one of the world's most geographically diverse service areas. Operating a highly decentralised network of dozens of water systems, over 100 treatment facilities, and 11,400 kilometres of pipelines, the utility delivers safe, reliable services to major urban centres and remote communities alike.
TasWater is committed to improving public health, protecting Tasmania's unique natural environment, and investing in the infrastructure needed to support future growth. Through its $1.7 billion capital investment program, the utility is modernising treatment facilities, strengthening climate resilience, improving river and coastal water quality, and embracing digital technologies to enhance operational performance.
On 17th June 2026, at Singapore International Water Week, TasWater was inaugurated into the Leading Utilities of the World network, where it was represented by CEO George Theo.
