About

Waternet is the public watercycle organisation of the Amsterdam region, servicing an area home to approximately 1.3 million people and protecting them from coastal flooding via a network of dykes. In the municipality of Amsterdam, Waternet treats tap water to ensure a clean water supply, and maintains the tap water pipe networks. The utility also treats the municipality's sewage water, maintains the sewage system and ensures that the groundwater in Amsterdam is kept at the right level, whilst also managing the canals, bridges and boating regulations across the city. Waternet, represented by CEO Roelof Kruize, is a founding member of the Advisory Board of the Leading Utilities of the World network. This position on the Advisory Board is an acknowledgement that Waternet has an unimpeachable reputation for performance and innovation.
