About

The Waterworks Bureau is the water and wastewater utility for the City of Kitakyushu in south-west Japan which has a population of approximately 1 million. On April 24, 2017 at the Global Water Summit 2017 in Madrid, Kiyama Satoshi, Executive Director, Water Service Department, Waterworks and Sewer Bureau, City of Kitakyushu, Japan, met with the other members of the Advisory Board to ratify the first six members of the Leading Utilities of the World network, and provide structured feedback on the new members’ future plans. The Advisory Board members and the new members of the LUOW were presented with the ‘Golden Tap’ trophy at the 2017 Global Water Awards to commemorate their membership.
