Leading Utilities of the World is proud to be able to announce its role in the Water-AI Nexus Center of Excellence. Launched at Weftec 2025, this initiative will unite leaders at the intersection of AI and water management.
The project is spearheaded by the Water Environment Federation and supported by partners Leading Utilities of the World, Amazon and The Water Center at the University of Pennsylvania.
The Center of Excellence is a first-of-its kind initiative to address water sustainability in AI development whilst also harnessing AI to solve critical water challenges. It unites global leaders in utilities, technology, academia and finance to solve today’s most pressing water and digital infrastructure challenges.
Christopher Gasson, publisher of Global Water Intelligence, served as Leading Utilities’ spokesperson for the Center of Excellence at Weftec and spoke of the revolution that AI will bring to utility management on its launch panel. He added:
“The intersection of water management and artificial intelligence is a turning point for the sector, both a critical challenge and unprecedented opportunity. The Water-AI Nexus will be a vital platform where utilities can directly collaborate with technology innovators to ensure water sustainability isn’t compromised by digital growth.”
Leading Utilities of the World’s role will be in serving as the global network and innovation accelerator for the Center of Excellence By connecting the world’s most pioneering water utilities, Leading Utilities will ensure that advancements in AI move beyond research into scalable, practical applications that transform operations, resilience and customer outcomes. We will facilitate peer learning, pilot deployments and performance benchmarking to turn innovation into measurable impact.
